WHO WE ARE
The Pasadena Elks Lodge is a distinguished chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.), a fraternal organization committed to community service and fellowship. The Pasadena Elks has become a cornerstone of the community, dedicated to promoting the values of charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity. Our members, a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life, come together with a common goal: to make a positive impact on our community and enhance the quality of life for those around us.
Our mission is a commitment to service and camaraderie. We believe in the power of unity and the difference it can make in the lives of others. Our lodge offers a welcoming environment where members can forge lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills, and contribute to meaningful causes. Whether it’s through our scholarship programs, fundraising drives, or community outreach efforts, the Pasadena Elks Lodge remains steadfast in its dedication to building a better, more compassionate community.
OUR ORIGIN STORY
The Elks Organization was founded on November 15, 1867 by a small group of entertainers in New York City. Led by English comedy singer Charles Algernon Sidney Vivian, they established a small drinking club called the“Jolly Corks,” and the organization quickly drew a devoted and close-knit membership. They quickly realized the group could benefit a larger community, and moved towards being service-oriented. The “Jolly Corks” was renamed “The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of The United States Of America” (B.P.O.E.), but is more commonly known simply as “Elks.” There are now over 2,100 lodges and more than 1.1 million members across the United States.
The Pasadena Elks was established in July 1901 as the 672nd chapter of the B.P.O.E. Now with over 800 members, the Pasadena Elks serve the community by supporting programs that promote healthy, drug-free development for children, address the needs of veterans, and enhance the quality of life for both their members and the broader society.
